Bristol Digital Day Winning Team 880X495

Bristol Digital Week

Students get to pitch to the experts

Students from City of Bath and City of Bristol Colleges came to Bray Leino in February to take part in our Bristol Digital Talent Challenge as part of Digital Bristol Week. The ideas that came out were amazing and it was great to meet some of our industry's next generation of professionals.

The participants were split into four teams and presented with three challenges to choose from based around connected devices, social media or mobile apps.

In teams, the students spent the day working on their creative concept and devising a pitch that would impress the judging panel including, Bray Leino Yucca MD Ben Martin, PPC Manager Kate Hallé and Principle Planner Nick Barthram.

“New talent is vital for our growing industry and there is a shortfall in digital skills at an educational level," said Ben.

"We hope that the day has provided valuable insight into the working world of a digital agency and, who knows; perhaps some of them will be looking to enter this industry in the future. I was genuinely impressed by the fantastic ideas presented.”

The winning team, pictured in the main image, suggested a simple concept called Mobile Medic – an app which allows you to quickly find your nearest qualified first aid professional, you heard it here first...

Peaches Duncan, a student from City of Bristol College and Plymouth University, said: “Brilliant day. Great to be in a professional working atmosphere and have experience of being judged in a pitch situation.”
Well done to all the students who took part! Bristol Digital Week 2015 saw organisations around the city hosting various interesting and informative events, and was designed to showcase the talent and innovation in and around the city. For more info, click here.
