Thatchers
Football ad kicks off new Aardman collaboration
On a huge weekend for football - the Premier leagues season climax - we made sure Thatchers were there to celebrate, with the release of a brand new, football-themed TV ad.
The latest instalment in our Thatchers X Aardman collaboration sees Thatchers’ Head Cider Maker, Richard Johnson, react to a perfectly ripe apple falling from the tree with some serious football skills. His upturned collar is a nod to footballing legend, Eric Cantona.
Thatchers’ football ad is the first in a series of three sports-themed TV ads. The next instalment will see the Thatchers puppets try their hand at cricket and will broadcast alongside the T20 matches, and there’s a rugby version waiting in the wings.
Kate Cox, CEO, says: “We’re so excited about this series of ads, the brainchild of the creative team here at Bray Leino. It’s a beautiful continuation of the Thatchers-Aardman partnership which extends the story from last year’s master brand ad. As well as aligning Thatchers with sporting events, we really wanted to further immerse audiences in the brand world, with touching nods to the family nature of the business.”
